Marriage Conference

Once a year we offer our open-enrollment Marriage Conference to create a space for married couples to prioritize their relationship and grow together. Through times of worship, teaching, activities, and free time, we offer a well-rounded experience that will give participants the chance to engage with others, reflect, and be active. As always, we schedule time for enjoying God’s creation in our beautiful country setting, while also sprinkling in special touches, such as a date night by a roaring fire. Our Marriage Conference is an encouraging and safe space where relational investment can take place with each other and with the Lord.

Content

After check-in and registration, personal accommodations and meeting spaces will be indicated to participants by our staff. One to two sessions with worship and teaching will be offered each day, as well as free time, outdoor adventure team building challenges (at your discretion), guided hikes, campfires, solo time, and other specially selected activities. Activities are not obligated, but encouraged, always taking age, abilities, and comfort level into consideration.

Gathering Spaces

The will be the primary indoor meeting space for all sessions, with hot beverages available throughout the weekend and a wood stove in the case of cooler weather. Our meeting room, in addition to other indoor spaces, may be used for workshops or breakout sessions during the weekend. Outdoors we have the , , , or available to shade yourself from the sun or escape from the rain. The in the upstairs section of our is also a great space to play games, have conversations, or enjoy a warm beverage.

Food

All meals are included in the cost of our Marriage Conference, as well as planned snacks and hot beverages. Typically the Conference starts with dinner on Friday night, includes all meals on Saturday, and finishes after lunch on Sunday.

Lodging

El Refugio offers a variety of options for overnight accommodations. Choose to stay in one of our cabins, dorm-style rooms, or spend the night at one of our campsites.

Accommodates up to 12 people, all contain bunk beds and one queen bed, and are conveniently located next to our Dining Hall.

These are ideal spaces for an individual, couple, or small family. This option provides a refrigerator, coffee and tea, and in certain cases your own kitchen or kitchenette.

Available for those looking for a more rustic experience, enjoy hiking and appreciate being a bit further away from the center of where most activities take place.

Our hope is that after spending the weekend away connecting with the Lord and prioritizing the relationship with your spouse, you’ll go home not only encouraged, but also feeling refreshed and inspired to keep working on your marriage. This experience is aimed at providing you the space needed to connect as a couple, and step back to look at your relationship with one another and the Lord. Our hope is that each couple will walk away refreshed, rested, and encouraged to keep putting in the time needed for a healthy marriage.
